Week 4 WEED, ROACHS, FLEAS

Holy cow there is so much this week so I am sorry if this is very long but if you have the time please read all of it because it is very funny! I have had the craziest week of my life! We are gonna start off with traveling to South Carolina! Soo first off we had to wake up at 2 a.m. Wednesday night to get ready and check out of the MTC so we can get on the front runner to the SLC airport! We got to the airport around 6 a.m. and our flight was at 8 with a connecting flight (one hour layer over) in Atlanta. Unfortunately our first flight got delayed for an hour so we ended up missing our second flight and the only flight they could get us all on was at 10:45 at night. So we waited in the airport for about 6 hours but then they delayed that flight for another hour so we spent 7 hours in the airport and didn't get to the mission home till about 2 a.m. but even though it was stressful I was SO excited to be in South Carolina!

The next day we had some training and we got our trainers!! My trainer is AMAZING! Her name is Sister Carter and she is the best! She is so patient and so so kind! She is also so in tune with the spirit it is amazing! I'm her first missionary she has trained which is so cool! We have already grown so close especially because we have had a crazy week!

The area I am in is called Walterboro! It used to be combined with an area right by us called Summerville but they just split it this transfer so we have had the opportunity to do a lot of finding and we have had some crazy miracles!! Before I get to that I need to address the title of my email haha! So this story adds to my already crazy start. Since the area is new we had to get a new apartment and they were so desperate to get apartments they did not check the apartment before signing on. So when we showed up at the apartment we walked in and it smelled SO bad! My companion said it was definitely weed (I trusted her because my little Utah nose has never smelled weed before) so we called the housing people and they said to go get febreeze and diffusers to help with the smell so we did that. When we got back, my companion set down the bag on the counter and immediately 10 roaches scattered out. We freaked out!! Now if you know me I HATE bugs and as we walked throughout the rest of the apartment we found a ton of dead roaches and it was literally so gross! So we called the housing people again and they set up a day to have people come spray and they said to go spend the night at the Sister's apartment in Summerville till we could go get some roach spray in the morning. So we packed a bag and grabbed our mattresses and drove to Summerville! It was super fun to have a little sleepover for the first night and we got to know the Summerville sisters super well!

Now I'm gonna skip ahead a few days to last night while we were doing some planning for today. My companion had been itching a lot because of some bites she had found that morning and as we were sitting there I saw a black little bug on my leg and so I told my companion because we were scared it was fleas that either came from the apartment (would not be surprised) or the dogs that we had met during some of our member visits the day before. My companion took one look and when the bug jumped off of me she immediately knew it was fleas so long story short we have an apartment that is full of weed, roaches and now fleas so we are gonna be deep cleaning 😅 such a crazy first week but we will hopefully have it all figured out this week!

Anyways I wanna move on to the good things of this week because it was FULL OF THEM!!! (I will just share one so ya'll aren't too bored)

There was this person my companion had been teaching the transfer before and she had been on date to get baptized but then she did some stuff that she shouldn't have and so they told her she couldn't get baptized till she chose to give up those things for good and she was not happy about that so she stopped coming to church. So while we were driving to a members house Sister Carter had a feeling we should go visit her and to just check in and see how she was doing. We pulled up and saw that her trailer was gone from behind the house that her friend lives in so we were scared she had moved but luckily she walked out of thre house. We got out of the car and she was super excited to see us! We talked with her and found out she had just moved and was here for a few minutes to grab stuff so it was crazy we had showed up right then! Anyways we invited her to church with us, she said maybe... but guess what SHE CAME!!! IT WAS AMAZING!!! And speaking of Sunday I got to give a talk for my first Sunday in Walterboro haha, it's a cute little branch so there was maybe like twenty people there so I wasn't too nervous! Back to the story, we texted Pam today and we were able to set up a lesson with her this week!!! I'm so excited for her!

Quick spiritual thought: (sorry I had to shorten it so I could fit in the craziness)

A scripture from my personal study!

Philippians 4:13
" I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Christ will always help you through anything, even if it seems impossible. He will never leave you on your own, reach out and he will give you the strength to push through!

Love you all so so much!!!

Love,
Sister Jolley:)
