Rollercoaster Ride 🎢 (May 29, 2023)
Hi y'all! I hope you are all ready for this email. This first part is sad, I'll try and keep it short so we can get to the LIT part of the week!
This week was a bit of a rough week! Our friends Courtney and Tyler were doing so good! We had everything prepared for the baptism, programs printed, all the people from the branch that were participating were ready! And then on tuesday Courtney texted us and told us she didn't think she was ready for baptism but that she still wanted Tyler to do it. We bore testimony to her and asked her to pray about it but didn't want to push her too much. We had two lessons with them after that and Tyler was so excited to get baptized, but then on Thursday courtney sent us a text saying they couldn't do the baptismal interview that day. We were so confused and attempted to call her back and went to her house but no answer from both. We woke up Friday morning and she had sent us a text and said Tyler wasn't ready for the responsibility and that they wanted to look at other churches:( this happened the day before the baptism. Me and Sister Willy were very very frustrated, we didn't understand why this was happening because we had done everything we could, so many people were ready to come and watch and congratulate and were so excited for them. We were sitting in our car, crying a little, and I pulled out my scriptures and just asked God to give me an answer on why this happened even after everything me and Sister Willy had done. Now I have never just turned to a scripture and had it answer my question immediatly, it never has been like that but this time it was. I immediately opened up to Helaman 14:30-31 which these two verses talk all about Agency and how we are permitted to act for ourselves. Then and there I realized that I could do everything in the world but at the end of the day it is up to the person we are teaching to choose to follow Jesus Christ and that even though it was hard that someone I have come to love so much drops us, I was reminded that I gave them the best we could and it is now up to them! It's up to each of us to personally choose to follow Him!
We also had our last zone conference this week with President and Sister Monson! It was sad but it also was a powerful zone conference and they both shared some pretty amazing things about charity and the atonement! It was super fun to see all the missionaries in the zone and to meet new people and talk to the old ones
So that wasnt super short but now for the most amazing news of the week!!
CORI GOT BAPTIZED YESTERDAY!!! WOOOO!! She is so so amazing and it was awesome to see her husband baptize her! It was a super special moment! And my mission president and his wife were there too which was super cool! He even stood in the circle when they confirmed her! I'm so grateful for Cori and for her decision to be baptized! She is the kindest, most loving person I have met and she has overcome so much! She is one of the people I was meant to meet out here and she has become one of my best friends! The smile that just lit up on her face when she was baptized and throughout the whole program just showed me how this gospel truly brings us happiness and it was a testament to me that this church is true!
I love yall so much and God loves you even more!
Oh also, yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to eat coon sliders (racoon), I don't have too many words to explain it haha let's just say I probably won't eat it again....
Love, Sister Jolley:)
