Hey guys!! This week has been one of the best weeks of my life already!!! And even though I have barely been a missionary for a couple of days I have already learned so much and have felt God's love for me even more! I got to meet my amazing companion and district on Monday and they are the best! My companion Sister Babcock is amazing! She is so sweet and kind and also loves to play soccer and crazy enough she was born in Johannesburg, South Africa which is the mission that my oldest brother Cam served in! She lives in California now and I am so excited to meet her in person!! I have been very tired as I adjust to the early wake up call but thankfully it is getting easier to get out of bed! My schedule isn't too complicated which has been nice. I have three classes every day, two with my district and one with all the new missionaries that entered the home MTC this week!
Here's a quick spiritual thought that I wanted to share this week! We were able to watch a devotional this last Tuesday and we got to listen to Elder D. Todd Christofferson! In his talk he mentioned a story that was given by President Gordon B. Hinckley about a one room schoolhouse! In this story the young boys in the school house were crazy and out of control and so the teacher had them create their own rules and the penalties for breaking those rules. The punishment they chose for breaking the rules was ten beatings across the back without their coat on. Later in the day, the lunch of one of the students was stolen, the thief was located, a very small and very hungry boy. As he walked up to the teacher to get the punishment for breaking the rules, he slowly took off his coat, revealing a bony and crippled body. Just as he was about to get hit, the boy whose lunch was stolen jumped up and volunteered to take the beating instead. The teacher allowed this and after only five hits the rod broke. The smaller boy wrapped his arms around the boy and cried into his arms saying, "I'm sorry that I stole your lunch, but I was awfully hungry. I will love you till I die for taking my beating for me. Yes, I will love you forever!"
This story reminded me so much of the pain and suffering that Christ went through for our sake. His Atonement is there for us that if we repent we will not have to suffer the pains and afflictions of our mistakes. He did this for us because he loved us and His love is full of mercy, patience, and forgiving and He will always be there to help carry our burden.
I love you guys so much and I hope you all have the most amazing week ever!!!
